Can I stop or restart the Task Scheduler service from the command prompt in Windows service 2008?

I am running server 2008.
I have a scheduled task that is not working properly.
I went to Services and I see that it is set to start automatically and it is actually running.
The problem is that I cannot Stop, pause or restart the service.
Is there a command
I can run that can stop or restart the service?

Why not right-click the job itself in the Task Scheduler, then stop it?

There are several methods to stop the Task Scheduler service this.
Here is one of them:

Create a scheduled task called "StopScheduler" as follows:
- Trigger: At boot time
- Command: sc.exe
- Parameters: stop schedule
- User: System
- Run with the highest privileges.Right-click the StopScheduler task, then left-click to run it.Fix your problem task.Restart the Task Scheduler.Disable or delete the StopScheduler task.

Boot in Safe Mode:

• Open Run command as previously described
• Type MSConfig
• Click on Boot tab
• Tick Safe boot in Boot option
• Select Network
• Click Apply and OK
• Reboot your system

Your system will boot in Safe mode with Networking. You may now try and open Windows Store and should not see any errors.
