Hi Miguel,
Thank you for visiting Microsoft Windows Vista answers forum.
Sometimes third party software’s like the antivirus or any other security software running on the computer might conflict with downloading files using Internet Explorer.
You may try disabling the antivirus or and any other security software running on the computer and then try to download and check.
You may also want to try performing a clean boot on the computer and then try to download and check.

To perform a clean boot on a computer that is running Windows Vista:

1.
Click Start, type msconfig in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Continue.
2.
On the General tab, click Selective Startup.
3.
Under Selective Startup, click to clear the Load Startup Items check box.
4.
Click the Services tab, click to select the Hide All Microsoft Services check box, and then click Disable All.
5.
Click OK.
6.
When you are prompted, click Restart.
7.
After the computer starts, check if the issue is fixed.
If your issue is resolved after performing Clean Boot and then installing the updates, then follow the steps mentioned in the following KB article to narrow down the exact source:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135
Also, see the section on how return your computer to a Normal startup mode by following the steps under
“Reset the computer to start as usual”, after performing the clean boot troubleshooting.

You may also try to download running Internet Explorer (No Add-ons) and check.
To run Internet Explorer (No Add-ons), follow these steps:
1.
Click on Start, and then click on Accessories, then click on System Tools and then click on Internet Explorer (No Add-ons).
2.
Try to download now and check.
If you are able to download using Internet Explorer (No Add-ons) then there are some add-ons that are conflicting with the download and you will have to follow the steps as below to identify that add-on and remove it.

Troubleshoot Internet Explorer in No Add-ons mode:

1.
Click Tools -> Internet Options.

2.
Click the Programs tab, then Manage add-ons.
3.
Select an add-on in the Name list, and then click Disable.
4.
Click OK, OK again, OK again and then close IE.
5.
Restart Internet Explorer and check if the issue is resolved.
a)     If it is, you should uninstall the specific add-on via Control Panel’s Add/Remove Programs or the applications own uninstaller.
b)    b.
If the problem persists, you will need to repeat steps 1-3 until you have identified the specific add-on causing the problem.

Please let us know if it helps.

Thanks and Regards,
Santosh
