Cant print some things

I can not print certain things paper feeds into printer half way then stops.  But some things do print.  I called dell because computer is new they said it is a printer problem.
I dont understand if it is a printer problem why some things print and other
do not.  The printer is apox 4yrs old It is an HP Photosmart 2575.
