Am having an issue with Microsoft Backup (Windows 7) on my new 2TB HDD

Have just replaced my 320 GB HDD with a 2TB HDD, cloned it & expanded it as per Microsoft  recommendations on this Windows 7 32 bit system from backup.
Have a 2nd internal drive (1GB)  I use to make automatic backups - my issue is that backup time has gone from about 2 hours to about 8 hours - presumably due to the need to compress data since the drive is much bigger, although total data remains the same
at about 200 GB.

 
Have already run a full CHKDSK on both C & E Drives as well as a full virusscan using MS Security Essentials.
No problems there.
 
Other than replacing my backup (& TV Recording) Drive "E" with another 2TB instead of the existing 1TB one, are there any suggestions to speed up the MS Backup process ?

It deals with stopping the Background intelligent transfer service using Services in Admin Tools.- the Gazzler reply of July 28, 2010.

Time for backup now now reduced from 8.5 hours to 25 minutes !!

Tweak IE Options

• Open Internet Explorer.
• Go to "Tools > Internet Options > Advanced Tab".
• Uncheck "Enable third-party browser extensions".
• Click "Apply".
  
• Reboot your computer.
