Troubleshooter of Error: black screen after login

black screen after login

When I login to the PC the only thing I see is a black screen and the cursor.
no desktop, taskbar or wallpaper.
This has happened on two of my customers in the same week.
I am guessing that an update has caused this issue and I need to know how to fix
it.
I have looked all over the internet and cannot find a solution which is a first.
Any help or suggestions welcome; Thank you.

It ended up being a corrupt roaming profile from the domain controller.
Explorer.exe froze while trying to load it and when it could not (5-10min avg) it would load a blank default profile.

Machine Throttling

• Go to the Start button.
• In the Search box, type "regedit" (without quotes) and press Enter.
• Look for the following registry key: "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ Microsoft\ SQMClient\Windows\DisabledSessions".
• On the right window pane, delete the subkey: "Machine Throttling".
• Reboot your computer.
